Our Services & Resources

The Writing Center provides a variety of services and resources for Garrett students. Check out the menus on this page for information about some of these.

Get help from a writing coach at any stage of the writing process – developing an idea, narrowing the topic, formulating an argument, organizing the paper, or strengthening your writing skills. Contact us at writing.center@garrett.edu.

Send a rough draft of a paper to writing.center@garrett.edu to receive written, constructive feedback on content, organization, clarity and flow.

Proofreaders review your papers to make sure there are no spelling, grammar, or punctuation errors. Send papers to student.proofreaders@garrett.edu.

Six short workshops each semester address writing strategies such as structuring your writing, improving your reading and note-taking approach, or using citations effectively. See the Writing Center Moodle page for details.

This guide offers guidelines for formatting papers correctly; tips for using grammar, punctuation, and capitalization properly; examples of citations for commonly used sources; and abbreviations for books of the Bible.
