The Styberg Library can request materials from other libraries for current seminary students, faculty, and staff. Northwestern students and guests are encouraged to explore the interlibrary loan services of their home academic libraries or local public libraries.
The average turn-around time for an ILL request is 10 days. Loan periods vary and are stipulated by the lending library. On average, most books are available for approximately four weeks. Lending libraries also specify whether an item may be taken out of the library overnight or must be used within The Styberg Library.
Most items are available without charge to library users. On rare occasions, a lending library may charge a fee which may be passed on to the borrower. If a fee is required, the borrower will be notified before finalizing the request.
We do not place ILL requests for books available in the library, including reference books or books on the course reserve shelf. Additionally, we do not request books that are required for courses.
The Styberg Library lends library materials to other libraries. Loans are shipped via USPS library rate with a tracking number and ILDS (Code: UNI). Scans are delivered digitally via e-mail or WorldShare. We do not charge for ILLINET, ACTS, CATLA, Atla institutions.
