Two-hour curbside parking is available on Garrett Place. There is also a gated lot just off of Garrett Place as well as a larger Northwestern lot directly to the south. Permits are available for purchase at the Garrett reception desk in the main lobby during regular weekday business hours — cash or check only. There are some periods when the gated lot is closed while deliveries, construction crews, or special events make use of the gated lot. The Northwestern lot is free after 4 pm and on weekends.
Take the CTA (the “L”) Purple Line (Linden) north from the city center. Disembark at the Noyes Street stop. Head east for 3 blocks. On Sheridan Road walk south for one block. The Garrett Place driveway ends in a circular turn-around on the East side of the street. The library is right inside the door under the square tower. Please note that the Purple Line only runs between the city center Loop and Linden during rush hours on weekdays. Mid-day, weekends, and late evenings one must take the Red Line to Howard and change to the Purple Line at Howard.
The Styberg Library is located directly inside the main seminary building with the large square tower. When you enter through the tower, the library will be on your right.
An accessible entrance is located to the left of the main tower entrance. Press 1 for the first floor. Once you exit the elevator, turn right and go to the end of the hallway for the library.
Current students, staff, and faculty of ACTS schools as well as Garrett-Evangelical and Bexley Seabury alumni can create free library accounts. Local clergy can also create a free account.
For anyone who is not affiliated with Garrett-Evangelical, Bexley Seabury, or Northwestern, a Styberg Library public borrower’s card may be purchased for an annual fee of $75. Please note that this card provides borrowing privileges to the Styberg Library physical collection only, and not to the collections of the Northwestern University Libraries. Those wishing to obtain borrowing privileges at Northwestern University must apply to their circulation services department. Access to our electronic collections and Interlibrary Loan are also excluded.
Visitors may enter the library whenever we are open. You are welcome to use our spaces as well as our resources. Scanners are available for free, and printing/copying is available for a fee.
