Where can I find the newest books added to United Library?

At the bottom of the staircase in the United Library is a bookshelf called the “New Arrivals” bookshelf. Books are placed on these shelves after they are cataloged with stickers on them indicating the month they were added to the shelf. They are shelved in call number order for ease in locating if you have taken down the call number from the online catalog. The top shelf of the “New Arrivals” shelf holds books that have been selected by the librarians for special attention. Take time to browse the “New Arrivals” shelf for new and interesting books for personal or academic enlightenment.

Also, remember that you can use “USearch,” our online catalog (, to search by author, title or subject and then limit your search by publication date using the column on the left side of the screen to choose your limits, such as by “Library” and/or “Creation Date” and then clicking on the “Refine” button. The location of the book is displayed in front of the call number—for example: “Available at United Library New Arrivals Shelf (BR118 .S325 2015) and other locations.” The results may also show other locations, such as in the stacks (lower level), the New Arrivals Shelf (bottom of the staircase), Reference (main level), etc.

If you have trouble finding the book(s) you are looking for, be sure to ask the library staff at the Circulation Desk to help you out…we are always glad to be of assistance!
