Black History Month 2024

In February 2024, Styberg Library is highlighting the work of prominent scholars of Black theology and liberation theory who just so happen to be part of the Garrett community: Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas, Rev. Dr. Emilie Townes, and Rev. Dr. James H. Cone. Check out some of their work at our main display in the front of the library!

Don’t miss the Rev. Dr. Kelly Brown Douglas deliver the inaugural James H. Cone and Emilie M. Townes lecture at the Chapel of the Unnamed Faithful on Thursday, February 15th, 4:00 – 5:00 pm. The lecture is titled “Shades of Black: Doing Theology and Ethics in a World on Fire.”

In honor of the too-often unacknowledged achievements and struggles of Black Americans throughout our nation’s history– Happy Black History Month!
