Lucy Rider Meyer (1849-1922) was a well-known leader in Christian social service and religious education. Her deaconess work has been often compared to Jane Addams’ settlement house movement. In 1885 she established The Chicago Training School with her husband, Josiah Shelley Meyer. See also The Chicago Training School Archives collection.

The Chicago Training School for City, Home, and Foreign Missions, was established in 1885 under the leadership of Lucy Rider Meyer, and her husband, Josiah Shelley Meyer. The school’s purpose was to educate Christian women as leaders and social service agents in ministry by serving the needs of the city. See also the Lucy Rider Meyer Archives collection.

A digital collection of sermons written by the Rev. Arthur J. Landwehr, II (1934-2003). A graduate of Garrett Biblical Institute and prominent Methodist preacher, Landwehr was recognized as one of Chicago's 10 outstanding preachers by the Chicago Tribune. He pastored a number of churches in northern Illinois, including First United Methodist Church of Evanston and Grace United Methodist Church of Naperville.
